Since the advent of photography in 1839, it’s safe to say that it has changed our world. It’s revealed things that were once hidden and documented important events and cultures so that they’ll never be forgotten. These aspects of it affect more than the viewers, but the picture takers, too. To understand the impact, they’ve offered their wisdom through compelling quotes about photography.
Many sayings speak to the silent truths that the camera captures. “I don’t trust words. I trust pictures,” photographer Gilles Peress. A quote by Aaron Siskind echoes this statement: “Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever… It remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything.” And a particularly moving image can teach empathy. Dorothea Lange, famous for her series depicting the Japanese internment camps in the U.S., sums it up: “The camera is an instrument that teaches people how to see without a camera.”

A subset of machine learning in artificial intelligence.If you look at the performance gap deep learning (DL) has created between itself and some other algorithms, it is massive. This is not to say other algorithms are now obsolete, no free lunch theorem remember, but DL has proven itself, emperically at least. If you check image classification/recognition and object detection algorithms and natural language processing (NLP), DL tops most algorithms and mostly by huge gaps. In some datasets it even rivals humans, that is why it is safe to say that most experts now are flocking to DL.
Blockchain has introduced an entirely new set of possibilities across society. Can you imagine living in a world where executing a real estate deal, buying an original piece of art or accepting payment from a stranger can be done without needing trust? Just trust the code. No third party required.
This is the promise of blockchain. It provides a very high level of safety and security when it comes to exchanging data, information, and money. And if we place the technical requirements on the side and let our minds wander and explore the possibilities we begin to realize the enormous potential.
